1. Icelandic Phallological Museum, Iceland
If you think I am starting this list with weird museum collections, then let me assure you, this is the least strange one. Icelandic Phallological Museum in Reykjavík has a huge collection of penises as well as penile parts. It also has penises from 93 different animal species. But, who would want to see the penis of a whale and why, I still wonder.
2. Museum of Broken Relationships, Croatia
Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is definitely one of the most unique museums you will ever visit. If you ever had your heart broken, then seeing break-up souvenirs from so many people and reading about interesting, funny stories will surely soothe you.
3. Sulabh International Museum of Toilets, India
Sulabh International Museum Of Toilets in Delhi has a noble aim of telling the global history of sanitation and toilets. But, exhibits from 50 countries including chamber pots and toilet furniture make it one of the world’s weirdest museums. But, I will never understand how toilet pots made of gold and silver served any different purpose than the regular ones.
4. Museum of Sex, USA
Now that’s what sparks everyone’s curiosity and Museum of Sex in New York does not disappoint. One of the weird museums in the world, this place is all about sexual preferences. Do not be shocked if you see sculptures of animals indulging in sex! (I have no interest in seeing how deer do ‘it’, are you listening staff?)
5. Cancun Underwater Museum, Mexico
If you are looking for unusual museums in the world, Cancun Underwater Museum in Cancun tops the list. It is a fascinating experience to see hundreds of sculptures submerged in the ocean. It will also help in saving the coral reefs in this area. Mexicans will do anything to make your dive interesting now, isn’t it?
6. Torture Museum, Netherlands
Now, this one is not for the faint-hearted visitors. Be prepared to see the gruesome objects like a skull crusher or thumb screws at the Torture Museum in Amsterdam. It is one of the strange museums you must visit, but only if you have a stomach to see illustrations of people getting tortured.
7. Shit Museum, Italy
I do not want to look at my own poop, ever, let alone seeing other people’s funny business. But, if I am to visit Shit Museum in the province of Piacenza, I do not have much of a choice. You will never guess how many weird things in a museum can be found here. Artworks that are inspired by human waste and giant balls of fossilized dinosaur feces, that’s what greets you here!
Though I am curious to see all these bizarre exhibits, I would prefer visiting the regular museums any day! But, wait, that’s no fun either. I think, I will take a tour of these places after all.
