The Me Too movement in India is witnessing equal attention as it saw in Hollywood when Harvey Weinstein saw himself in the eye of the storm. Women are getting the strength to come out and talk about what they went through. They are calling out perpetrators. But the alarming rate at which the stories are tumbling out will leave everyone in shock. Bollywood has thus been seen as one of the unsafest places to be right now. Guess that prompted the Producers Guild to issue a statement wherein they mentioned they will take steps to make this industry safer for women. Today,
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao dropped by at the Guild's office for a quick meeting.
The Guild had issued a statement that read, " We believe that there is an urgent need to set up a robust process to ensure the highest standards of safety for employees and crew members at the workplace - whether in offices or on sets of productions. We are instituting a committee within the Guild to lead this effort, and we are determined to stay the course till workplaces in the industry are safe spaces for everyone." The statement comes after many women working in the industry came out with their Me Too stories including Tanushree Dutta and others. It's great to see the industry is collectively thinking of ways to make it a better place for women.

When Aamir Khan was asked to comment on the Tanushree Dutta controversy at the Thugs Of Hindostan trailer launch, he had said, “Well, I think without knowing the veracity of something, or the details of something, I don’t think I can comment on it. It’s not right for me. I don’t need to comment on it. But I would like to say that, whenever something like this does happen, it’s a really sad thing. Now whether this has happened, that is for people to investigate. I don’t think we can comment on it.”
