Messi may return against Inter Milan tonight

Barcelona Coach Ernesto Valverde said yesterday that captain Lionel Messi could feature against Inter Milan in the Champions League tonight, little more than two weeks after breaking his arm.

Messi was a surprise inclusion in the squad list as he was expected to be out of action for three weeks after breaking a bone in his right arm on October 20.

The Argentine forward returned to training last week and may be able to help Barcelona secure progression from Group B on Tuesday at the San Siro.

“Leo is at the point where he might be available, but we have to wait for the training session. We have to see if he’s safe to play,” Valverde told reporters Monday.

“In terms of his play and his movements, he’s fine. We have to wait. … It’s always better if he’s there. Of course it’s necessary to get Messi back as soon as possible.

“There are three or four possibilities. One is that he plays from the start, or he comes on, or he goes off. What we won’t do is take any risks.”

Barcelona train on Monday night in the Italian capital, after which Messi may receive his medical clearance from Barcelona’s doctors.

“I don’t know if (Messi) will play tomorrow but I am happy he is back with us,” added versatile Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.

“It’s clear that we were worried about his absence, he’s the best player in the team and in the world.”

Barcelona won the four games they have played without Messi, including beating Inter Milan 2-0 at the Nou Camp and thrashing Real Madrid 5-1 in La Liga.

KRRISH 4: Will Jaadu and Hrithik Roshan reunite

Krrish 3 turned five years old. Released on the occasion of Diwali 2013, the film went on to make and break many records. Sunny Leone’s performance in Bengaluru

A Kannada fringe group called Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene, which had threatened to disrupt the show, has said they were protesting because it would spoil culture of Bengaluru. They are also against Sunny playing the lead role in the historical, Veera Mahadevi.

Amid tight security, the maiden stage performance by Bollywood actor Sunny Leone in the city concluded without any hindrance.

Police had tightened the security in and around the venue fearing that the members of a fringe group, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene (KRVYS), would disrupt the show.

The pro-Kannada outfit had threatened to disrupt the event. Around 200 policemen in civil dress were deployed at the venue.

The KRVYS, an offshoot of pro-Kannada organisation Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, has been opposing the event for two reasons —first, the event would spoil the culture of Bengaluru and second, Sunny was playing the lead role in a multi-lingual movie Veera Mahadevi, a period drama portraying a warrior.

KRVYS state president R Harish said the agitation was called off as they had inputs that their rival group was planning to stage a parallel agitation only to defame them.

“We wanted a peaceful agitation. Our intention was never to create a commotion. Hence we backed off,” said Harish. The organisers had earlier planned to host the same event last year on December 31 night. However, it could not take place as the organisers had not obtained police permission.
